Comment: Charmingly written by Jan Day and splendidly illustrated by Janeen Mason, The Pirate Pink is a children's full color picturebook about Pink, the daughter of the fierce pirate Captain Red Beard. She dreams of adventure, but when she goes aboard a pirate ship, she finds that the life of a pirate is not what she thought. When the pirates kidnap a beautiful countess, the countess and Pink become friends, and Pink must risk everything to save the countess from walking the gangplank. A thoughtful and highly recommended children's story about the differences between expectations and reality.
