Summary: If you had controlling parents.
Comment: This book goes beyond the usual superficial approach to parental psychological control. It demonstrates how subtle & insidious psychological control can be & why/how demeaning & violating it is to children. The book cites many specific examples & explains how children & adolescents interpret & react to psychological control. If you had controlling parents, you will better understand why their behavior angered you & how it continues to affect you as an adult. More importantly, this understanding can be used to improve your parenting skills & avoid some of the mistakes your parents made. I wish I had read this book years ago.
