Summary: Poe at his darkest! One of his best!!
Comment: This book has sold me on Poe. I have ordered his complete works from Amazon.Com. Poe takes us around one dark corner after another in this delightfully evil book of revenge. Perfect for someone with a tinge of darkness to them. Best read during the Halloween season to put you in the mood. Pick up this book and then after you delight in it's reading, get more of his books as soon as you can!! Can't you hear Fortunato calling for you??

Summary: I had to read this in school and I loved it!
Comment: The Cask of Amontillado is full of verbal, situational, and dramatic irony. It is wonderfully written, and is one of Poe's best short stories. Poe encorperates his fear of being buried alive into this chilling tale.

Summary: Fine High School Reading
Comment: This is my favorite short story of all time. Yes, it's a little twisted, but that's Poe for you. Poe makes excellent use of irony, foreshadowing, and sensory devices in "Cask of Amontillado," making it excellent fodder for a literary analysis essay. The vocabulary is a little dated, and you may need a dictionary if you don't remember what "immolation" means, but let's face it, kids, this is eighth or ninth grade reading here. You and ask.oxford.com can handle this little story.
