Comment: Just as the writer above, who rated this at a one, I, too, worked with the author in the non-profit setting. Many of us are passing the book around and were told by management to write a review. Although I never had the privilage of working with Harris myself, (I came not long before she left) the experiences she relates in this book have been relevant to that which I have experienced in many work places in the past 40 years. It is obvious that she has captured the heart of the American workplace for the average person. Her book is humorous and brings the readers - particularly those who have worked the frontlines, with her through the experiences. It appears she has taken a situation that could be potenitally devastating and turned it around for the good, to heal and to help others do the same. Bravo to Deaton-Harris.

Summary: Carolyn
Comment: Just like the reader from New York who rated this book with a "one", I also worked for a short time with the author. This book has been being passed around the organization and management has asked our leaders to do an online review, hoping to dissuade people from reading the book. As one who has worked in the corporate sector for 40 plus years, my experience has been in line with what Deaton-Harris says in this book. She has a way of bringing humor to otherwise frustrating and hurtful situations and holds the readers interest throughout the book. Although I personally did not know her very well, I am proud to know that I have worked with someone who has taken a bad situation and used it to help others as well and to heal herself. This book is pretty consistent with the experience of many who work in corporate America as well as in the workplace. I am proud that she has taken a bold stand to help others out of this dilemma and has not let what she calls, "the powers that be" have the final say in her life. Cheers to you, Mary and to all who read it and decide to change your lives.

Summary: definitely hits the spot
Comment: This book was an inspiration to me because the author immediately connects with her readers. She shares her own experiences but is able to keep an unbiased perspective by not putting all the blame on the five-s. In spite of her education and background, she makes the reading painless to those who are not necessarily readers. The book is humorous and sheds light on some very real problems. It goes where many dare not to go, that is into the heads of the frontline and middle management. I hope her other books come out soon.
