Comment: Joyce "Jadee" Livingston begins this investment how-to guide with a hard luck story that will make you believe you can oversome any obstacles you face in YOUR life.

After telling her tale, she offers reassurances to readers on how they can do what she did (get their financial lives in order and begin to invest).

In a series of short, simple chapters, she gives strategies for saving money, eliminating overspending, "finding" money to invest, and more.

Toward the end of the book, she also shares a weeks' worth of "meditations" designed to help you change the way you think about money and your financial life.

I wanted to give the book more than three stars. The only reason I didn't is I found that some of the chapters were a bit TOO short (and short on detail), and the writing in some sections of the book was choppy--the ideas just didn't flow smoothly. Nonetheless, the book offers some valuable advice, and it's a worthwhile investment of your time and cash.

Summary: Learn how to get started in investing!
Comment: If you've ever wondered about how to get started in investing, you need to get this book. The author gives you advice on how to work on getting out of debt while you get started in investing. This book will show you how easy it is to buy stock without using the services of a broker! I like how the author includes the names and phone numbers of companies so that you can call and request their prospectus and what companies you can get started with for as little as $10 per month. I also like the author's advice on how to come up with the money to buy your first CD!

Summary: Honesty and Humor Empower
Comment: This book is a sleeper. My friend told me about it and I ordered from Amazon.com. At first I was interested in how to make small investments in stocks, and to learn more about investing. However, I believe the author used the wrong title. The title should be OVERCOME ANYTHING. The book is filled with amuzing and refreshing honesty of how this author has taken life's lemons and not only made lemonade, but severed it from crystal and sold the recipe! She is an inspiring lady and I'm writing her through her publisher to see if she will come speak to our group. This book is truly for every beginner invester, and any one who has ever suffered a loss of any kind. The authors daughter was crimally abducted and is still missing. She was involved in a serious accident, while recuperating she could not work, her husband left her took the money, still she does not whine, she overcomes with great faith and inspiration. Please give this book to anyone who has had a financial set back. Thanks for this opportunity to voice my view. Sue Davis Gore
