Comment: This book on the African Elephant follows the trail from Gourma Elephant Reserve in Mali, through the rest of West and Central Africa to Kenya on the east coast. It then turns south to Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and South Africa, to end in the Addo Elephant National Park.

The engaging text deals with all the most pressing issues of elephant biology and conservation, including poaching, climatic change, the ivory trade and human population increase.
