Summary: Giving without receiving
Comment: White Banners embraces a thread that Lloyd C. Douglas carries throughout many of his works. That thread, I believe, is doing good especially when you know you will never receive recognition for it. Even more, doing good without getting caught. In one of his other works he carries that theme to the point that if you do something good and either boast about it or someone finds out about it, it doesn't 'count'. White banners is a story about a family who, through dire circumstances, meets up with a woman who wholly embraces that philosophy which she passes on to them. Wonderfully written (as are all Mr. Douglas' works) and touching.

Summary: Setbacks can be good for you!
Comment: An interesting story about a family and the people who interact with them and how sometimes having to start over with nothing is actually best for us in order to progress. A fascinating concept that we should accept and embrace more often.
