Summary: Missing figures
Comment: For the price I think that the publisher/editor would have discovered missing figures and typo errors in formulas used and explained. For example no anwers when using a formula, typing R1 in a circuit as R!. The list goes on and on. It made reading very discouraging. If they had discovered and fix those errors Then the staR rating woUld have beEn hi-er. You know what I mean.

Summary: Overly broad survey text with poor proofreading
Comment: I purchased this book thinking it to be a summary of distribution technology for power distribution companies. Instead I found an overly broad survey that tried to cover the distribution process starting with power production and extending to home wiring. I felt that much of this material, particularly that relating to distribution within a building, could have been dropped, while the treatment of power distribution by power companies was insufficiently treated. There was evidence of sloppy proofreading, particularly in the equations. This was not isolated to one area but rather a recurring problem. I feel that a top dollar textbook should have few if any glaring errors; their presence alone is enough to justify a new edition. I was caught off guard because usually Prentice Hall will not put their name on material of this quality. There is an assertion on the back cover that the book would be useful as a desk reference to a working engineer. I find that hard to believe given the superficial treatment of the subject.
