Summary: Can't Get Enough of This Dekker Guy
Comment: I'm going to keep it short and sweet. I went on a little bit about When Heaven Weeps, but I couldn't help it--it just really got to me. So did Blessed Child, but in a different way. Blessed Child is unique. All of Ted Dekker's novels give us a wonderful picture of the love of God in action, but Blessed Child has this tranquility in the face of extreme danger that is really compelling. I felt like a totally refreshing shower had washed over me after reading this book--an absolutely unique experience, something I've never encountered in any other book I've read. The only thing that comes close is Leif Enger's Peace Like a River, though the two books are very different. I truly felt like a blessed child of God after reading this book. And so will you, I predict.

Summary: Excellent Fiction
Comment: This is the kind of fiction Christianity should produce more of -- stories that push one to the edge of thier understanding and challange the mind. Blessed Child does that and more, it's a thrilling ride. Imagine taking a character out of the old testiment, say an Elijah, and dropping him off downtown NYC. You get an idea of what this book is about. If you loved Elijah and are willing to ponder another one, you'll love this book. If you think Elijah should remain a character in an ancient book, you might hate this book. But then all great reads are characterized by such opposing opinions.
The story uses a stray Orthodox priest as a villian and frankly, as an orthdox myslef, I found it refreshing. Every faith has its bad apples. The characters of Leiah and the boy are wonderfully drawn, and if you allow them to, they will bring you to tears. Bottom line: Highly recommended if you want to look into a world where Hollywood holds nothing over God.

Summary: Powerful read!
Comment: Have you ever looked at a book, and thought that just because the book looked a little weak, therefore it MUST be weak? I wasn't sure what to think, but I didn't know what was coming were some of the most powerful pages that Ted Dekker wrote while teamed up with Bill Bright. I was really moved by the faith of little Caleb. It also moved me with the story of Jason, and then Leiah, who appears to be scarred for life. This isn't just an action packed thriller, (although it is very much so) but it is a testimony of God's love.
If someone gives you the chance to read this book, along with, "A Man Called Blessed", read them. What an awesome witness! Sometimes we don't know what something like this will hold in its pages, but then you read it, and all of a sudden you find yourself not wanting to put it down! This is good stuff with a good message.
