Summary: Elvis is free- free of Col. Parker that is!
Comment: Shocking photos of Elvis surrounded by almost exclusively ugly people, women especially (don't let the cover photo fool you). Maybe it was the post-war German makeup-and-hair routine or just the clientele of the seedy nightclubs near his Army base. Red West looks about as out of place as a red-haired rockabilly can in a post-Weimar Cabaret. If you want a glimpse into the Elvis twilight zone- find a copy of this book. It's like that car accident that you just can't look away from; we're not in Peter Guralnick territory anymore, kids. File between Albert Grossman and Elvis- What Happened?.
