Title: The Crazy Wizard of Oz Game (Crazy Games) by W. W. Denslow ISBN: 0-8431-7500-1 Publisher: Price Stern Sloan Pub Pub. Date: November, 1999 Format: Misc. Supplies Volumes: 1 List Price(USD): $3.99 |

Rating: 4
Summary: Small Box, Big Surprise
Comment: This "Price Stern Loan" game comes in a very small box measuring approximately 3 ¼ inches by 5 ½ inches. The game is made up of nine sturdy four-sided cardboard puzzle cards, each measuring approximately 3 inches square, which each have either the top torso or bottom section of either Dorothy, Scarecrow, Lion or Tin Man (Denslow-like designs) imprinted on each of the four sides. The object of the game is to match the top and bottom of the characters using all nine cards and form a perfect square at the same time. You must kept arranging your cards until all the objects match. It is harder than you think! It is recommended for ages 6 and up. Not sure if it can keep the attention of any young Oz fans though. It's fun for any puzzle wizard! The solution is not included in the game so if you can't figure it out you have to send $1.00 to mail away to receive it. The address of the game's company is enclosed.

Summary: Hey, this is fun!
Comment: When I ordered "The Crazy Wizard of Oz Game," I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a box containing nine cards and directions to arrange the cards into a square. It's not as easy as it sounds! The cards contain different parts of the four main characters from "The Wizard of Oz" -- Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion -- and they must be matched up with each other. They can match up in a number of ways, but only one is the correct way that results in a three-by-three square. The game turned out to be challenging enough that my husband was entertained for almost fifteen minutes before finding the solution. I _still_ haven't found the solution, but it's been fun trying! The cards feature the work of W. W. Denslow; his illustrations filled the original edition of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." Price Stern Sloan, the company which produces the cards, also offers an address inside the box where you can send for the puzzle's solution if you really need it. This makes a neat gift for anyone who loves puzzles and/or "The Wizard of Oz." It's recommended for anyone aged 6 and up, but grownups in particular seem to find it addictive!
