Summary: Good to Know
Comment: These two volumes are very good books to have as a piano teacher. It is a wonderful reference book for those with a lot of education in music but also makes a good learning tool for those with limited education. One great perk is that even though it is only a comprehensive guide and does not go too deeply into any subject, it provides dozens of recommended reading lists for every subject. The first volume has piano performance and theory lingo. There is also a section on teaching techniques for students or every age or ability including a chapter about teaching handicapped students. The second volume has helpful lists and descriptions of method books and piano repertory available (although I was a little disappointed at the limited amount of method books listed). It also delves into different styles of music, pedegogy, and even has a chapter on construction and care of the piano. I am glad to have this book not only for the information it has in it but also for the recommendations on how to get more information on any subject you are most interested in as a piano teacher.
