Summary: Little Vitality
Comment: I liked the basic plot of a mother-in-law who tries to make her daughter-in-law feel like an ignorant worm and how the bride's family is crazy about practical jokes. The story was all right in its way, but parts of it weren't very believable. What kind of husband wouldn't support his adored wife a little more?

And surely Davida's aunt would have taughter her some manners (I can understand that she had little training, but surely she would have had enough to get by with with some assurance). Also, Davida is sweet, but she needs a LOT more backbone. She is spineless, has low self-asteem, and does not have enough will to carry out her sweet ideas. She is playful and fun but way to easily squashed.

The hero is fine and I felt like he really appreciated Davida (which I like) and I could sort of understand how he had obeyed his mother all the time so 'rebellion' would have been hard--but he still should have supported his wife more.

I also object to the fact that Davida's character seems to be permanently scarred by her mother-in-law. Nothing traumatic, it just seems like she never (the epilogue implies it) gets and self-asteem.

A decent enough read, better than many Regencies, but probably a read-one-time.

Comment: It is nice to see a regency romance dealing with a married couple for a change. The characters were adorable and the story light and refreshing.

Summary: delightful
Comment: A wonderful and light tale. I picked it up because I had never before seen a regency that was set after the marriage of two people in love. The storyline was amusing, the characters fairly well drawn, and the premise engaging. The author deals well with the marriage of two people from totally different families. I suspect those with difficult in-laws will be particularly delighted by this charming story of a husband and wife trying to make a life for themselves. I recommend it highly.
