Summary: Insightful, informative, and important
Comment: This book is a good source for those interested in the life of the average antebellum/civil war girl. Although she lives on a plantation (her father owns about 8 slaves) she does not hold the same social status of other well read diarists (i.e. Mary Chestnut and Sarah Morgan). A careful read of this diary will cause many to change their outlook on 19th century women.
