Summary: A NICE INTRODUCTION TO THE CELTIC SIDE OF WICCA
Comment: I liked this book for several reasons, the main one being that the author doesn't claim that she or anyone else really knows all that the Celts did. Since they didn't write things down very much (and the Christians destroyed everything), we have very little to go on. But her point is that there is enough to go on to build a foundation.
She writes in a straight-forward, friendly way that encourages you to want to learn more. She brings Celtic wicca into the mind, the home & everyday life.

This is NOT a Llewelyn "fuzzy bunny, write without credentials" book. This is a good, solid guide to Celtic wicca & lore and I'd recommend it highly.

Summary: Celtic Wicca
Comment: Very well-written and informative. I enjoyed the book very much, and found the history of the Celtic gods and goddesses, with their complimentary rituals, to be especially good. Also, Ms. Raeburn describes the way the Celtic deities and the Roman deities became intermingled as did the cultures in a way that can help one follow the sometimes tangled web of changing names of various gods, goddesses, and demi-deities.

Summary: Real history and real religion!
Comment: At last, a book that takes both Wicca and history seriously. You see so many Wiccan books that just mangle historical facts. This one is the real thing. Raeburn is honest about what is and isn't Celtic, and about the fact that Wicca is a modern religion.

I also liked the writing in here very much. Raeburn offers some basic Wicca information for newcomers, but this is more like Wicca 102 - she quickly gets into deeper material and really encourages the reader to explore history and art.
