Summary: A Book of Songs from the Movie and not the Roald Dahl Book!
Comment: Warning! While I mean no insult to the other reviewers I feel that I need to point out that this is not the book by Roald Dahl which they seemed to think it was but a book containing songs from the 1970's movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and is by Leslie Briscusse and is actually a good book for kids who love the movie and the songs. The Roald Dahl book that the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is based on is actually titled Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so if that is the book you are looking for this book isn't for you but if this song book is what you are after you won't be disappointed! I also want to point out that I can understand the confusion about the titles because I used to think that the book was titled Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory too and that was because of the slight change of title for the 1970's movie.

Summary: Dahl A True Artist, Story Classic
Comment: While the book version of this tale is much darker than the movie script, the overall message is valuable to 4th graders (when it was read to me), & adults alike - over indulgence, of any sort, leads to no good.... The tale always stuck w/ me, & is classic - it will stick w/ children by & large.
There are few comparisons to Dahl, when it comes to a descriptive setting, & lavish tale, w/ a lesson to boot (you in the patoot!)... My only lament is that the author is dead.

Summary: A charming childs' books
Comment: I've read this book as a child, and think it is a classic.
The book fuses three basic themes - the cinderella story (a child who rises from poverty to fortune), every child's fanatasy of owning a sweets shop / factory, and Jules Verne style fantasy (Oompa Loompas from Africa, miraculous sweets, fantastic teleporting TV, etc).
This book was passed in my extended family from child to child, and as everybody knows and likes it, we sometimes jokingly refer to it.
I've read it nearly twenty years ago, and enjoyed picking up the same copy I read than and reread it a short while ago - it's one of my favourite childhood books.
