Summary: photos of other babies captivate
Comment: My 14 month old son loves looking at the photos of the other babies and having an adult name the body parts. He's not too interested in the text, but I think it may appeal to an older child who can answer the questions the text tries to pose. It's a great book for a child who is learning how to talk.

Rating: 5
Summary: Welcome to Life
Comment: As a child grows it is helpful for them to start with what they know and then learn to understand what they don't. They already know they have a nose, but do they know what it is called and why they need one? Every part of their bodies have a special name and a different job to do.

On the first page you see the mouth, feet, ears, eyes, chest, tongue, nose and hands. Each picture has a sentence beneath is saying what each body part does. "I eat with my mouth." "Your chest moves as you breathe." Seeing Faces is a section filled with expressions of happy, worried, upset, sleepy, surprised and puzzled babies. Questions like: "What color is your hair?" helps a child to be more self aware and you can play games that include naming all the parts of your face.

"Head and shoulders, knees and toes...is a song that also comes to mind. ;>"

How Many? is a section that teaches counting. You can count the feet, the babies, the wiggly toes. This book also includes a section on what a child will see around them in their home or when they travel. It is like a mini section in "My Big Book of Everything." Other sections include: Making Noise, Things you Do and Things you Eat.

The last few pages are more of a game where your child can mix and match the different parts of their body with pictures on the opposite page. The mittens match up with the hands.

All the pictures have words so children are learning a good vocabulary and are seeing the spelling so they can also visually recognize words.
