Summary: A Nice Way To Spend The Weekend!
Comment: My wife placed this book on the kitchen table and asked me if i'd like to read it. I said sure! Tim Allen is such a talent and after reading this book I find he is nice person too. He reflects on his personal life and comments on midlife crisis, science, religion, relationships & society all with humor and insight. It was easy to relate to most of this book. Its great to see all his success has not gone to his head, and that he has discovered what I already know, one can choose to be happy and content with what God has blessed you with, or you can complain and be miserable. Its your choice, your consequence.

Summary: A Very Deep Book by a Very Deep Man
Comment: This book is not as humourous as his first book, Don't Stand to Close to a Naked Man, but it shows a new side of the toolman. A side that is not shown in his show, any of his stand up comedy or in his first book. To show this side of himself, Tim Allen had to take a large step, and in doing so, he shows that he is more than a man's man. He shows that he's also a thinking man, and his world does not completely revolve around tools and cars, though they are a large part of his life. This book still has its humourous points, but has a much more serious tone overall. It is much more philosophical and deals with Quantum Mechanics, and it brings up some very large questions that we rarely deal with on a day to day basis. This book will not only make you laugh, it will also make you think.

Summary: Talk about synchronicity!
Comment: In December of 2001, I read the life changing book "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (ZAMM)." Not long thereafter, when I learned that Tim Allen had a new book out titled "I'm not Really Here," I decided I had to have it, as "Don't Stand Too Close To A Naked Man" had been absolutely hilarious. The opening pages thank Robert M. Pirsig, author of "ZAMM," for his work, as Tim says it was a key factor in his new line of thought; so I was immediately interested, doubly so. While reading "Here" I realized that Tim and I were, towards the beginning, on EXACTLY the same ground, asking the same questions, seeking the same answers. I hungrily reached the book's mind-blowing final chapters, in which the various credible opinions on the nature of reality are revealed. I still read that "letter from Chris" section when I need a bit of a mental boost, to keep me thinking. At the end, Tim provides a recommended reading list, which I copied and took to the bookstore with me, thereupon purchasing every book on it and reading them slowly, digestively. After "ZAMM," I had no idea where the intellectual roadsigns were pointing to. I didn't know where to go next. The Toolman showed me the Way.
