Based on Galatians 5:22-23 and the nine Fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, and these books help kids learn to do what's right, even if you've been doing what's wrong. It could be called a spiritual U-turn, and Allison Gappa Bottke founder of popular God Allow U-Turns series hopes this new series will give kids a chance to choose the right way.

Although the books are geared towards 4-7 year olds, my three year old grandson, Caleb and I devoured our two books (although there are more now), in one sitting. He was delighted with pup siblings Jessie and Tyler Barkley's tale told with simple synched rhymes and fun illustrations. I enjoyed Caleb's laughter and the Christian message I shared while reading to him.

Jingles and Joy is a delightful book exemplifying the Spiritual fruit joy. Focusing on the 'gimmie' attitude present in so many children allows readers to identify with the situation. When the pups learn true joy is what God provides in Christ, the readers understand this, too, and they see what true joy really means.

Picnics and Peace is a charming book focusing on the Spiritual fruit peace. It's a touchy book dealing with real life situations rejection and racism. Jessie Barkley doesn't like her brother Tyler's new friend. She doesn't really know him, but he's different. He's a different breed - a poodle. And, this new different looking friend takes Tyler away from Jessie more than once. Jessie doesn't like feeling rejected and tries to get Tyler away from the new pup, but Tyler's having too much fun. When Jessie realizes there are differences even in her own family and that God created us all and loves each one of us, she drops her guards and gains a new friend.

Author/poet Heather Gemmen does a great job of entertaining readers with her simple sing song poems, and former Disney illustrator Matt Whitlock draws us in with images that make us smile.

I'm eager to add the next books in the series to Caleb's family library; his little brothers will want to read them as they grow. It's good to find solid bible truths told simply and in such a way the children ASK to read or at least look at the pictures.
