Title: There Must Be More Than This : Finding More Life, Love and Meaning by Overcoming Your Soft Addictions by Judith Wright ISBN: 0-7679-1339-6 Publisher: Broadway Pub. Date: 25 March, 2003 Format: Hardcover Volumes: 1 List Price(USD): $23.00 |
Average Customer Rating: 4.77 (35 reviews)
Rating: 5
Summary: strong self-help book
Comment: Motivational speaker and writer Judith Wright insists that the minor harmless habits are the dangerous ones that hold people prisoners within "soft addictions" that keep an individual from enjoying love and meaningfulness in life. These time filling disillusioned ruts like watching TV or surfing the Internet typically leave a person unfulfilled. Ms. Wright offers a program to eliminate or at least reduce the "soft addictions" in order to gain a more harmonic lifestyle shared with loved ones. The author espouses live everyday with the expressed purpose of achieving your goals and stepping closer to attaining one's vision rather than hide within the socially acceptable rut.
This self-help book is well written and easy to follow once the reader understands the underlying hypothesis fostered by Ms. Wright, who makes a strong anecdotal case defending her belief. The difficult part remains disciplining one's self because these "soft addictions" are so hypnotic even when one is left feeling empty afterward, but Ms. Wright offers small steps as a plan to achieve a more satiated life shared with loved ones. THERE MUST BE MORE THAN THIS: FINDING MORE LIFE, LOVE, AND MEANING BY OVERCOMING YOUR SOFT ADDICTIONS is solid advice for those who seek greater harmony within themselves.

Summary: Great BOOK - Great INTERVIEW!
Comment: If you read a lot of success books, you WILL enjoy this one; it really stood out. I read with a pen and hi-lighter to call out new areas of learning, so you can imagine how colorful this book looked when I got done. I had something on almost every page.
I never counted myself as having any addictions, because I don't have any serious ones. But what Judith teaches is how to carefully exam your 'soft addictions', because these on the ones that really reduce your joy, steal your time, and zap your energy.
In her book, Judith covers 8 key life skills that will bring you the right kind of More in your life:
1. Making your 'One Decision' to live a life of More.
2. Identifying your soft addictions
3. Minding your mind to break your denial and clean up your stinking thinking
4. Discovering the Why of your soft addictions and cracking your own code.
5. Differentiating your hungers from your wants.
6. Developing a Vision
7. Learning the 'Math of More' to implement your Vision
8. Developing support and accountability
I interviewed Judith Wright on "The Inside Success Show" and loved every minute. She revealed a whole new facet to personal success - getting rid of 'soft addictions.' She makes you say, I WANT MORE!"
Here's some other things you'll learn from the book:
** How Judith Wright discovered SHE WAS ADDICTED!
** Why you should examine your life carefully for soft addictions
** What you can do to separate your wants from your hungers.
** How you can get connected and become fully alive
** The 8 Key Life Skills that will help you to get ever increasing More in life
** How to rid yourself of the 'soft addictions' that hold you in defeat and failure.
** And much, much more ..
If you're tired of just getting the leftovers of life and you are ready to embrace a life of More, then listen to this interview and read her book.
