Summary: Like a tour guide in print VERY GOOD BOOK!
Comment: This book has been opened more times than I can count every page has something of importance to the seasoned or unseasoned Vegas traveler. I highly reccomend this book to anyone going to or thinking about going to Vegas.

Summary: A great read!
Comment: I thoroughly enjoyed this book- unlike other guides I read it cover-to-cover. The author and his team have stayed at just about every property, eaten at almost every restaurant, and are committed to bringing an honest assesment of their experiences to the reader. The book covers everything from accomodations, the casino floor and restaurants to the basic rules of gaming (with an easy to understand explantation of the blackjack rules- I still pull it out when I can't remember the rules for my hand). The format is such that it is an interesting book to sit down and READ, while wanting to go back to certain parts for reference. Thanks for an honest look at Las Vegas for the tourist!

Summary: Disappointed
Comment: I recently took a trip to Vegas and while I had a great time, two important pieces of research that I had used the book for were wrong. While I understand (and is echo'ed in the books text) that sampling error of rooms and shows means that you don't always experience what the reviewers experience, I am still disappointed in the purchase.
Item 1 was the choice of hotels. I had researched what was available at my price, and had settled on the MGM Grand. This was a bad choice, the rooms were small and sparsely equipped. I have previously stayed at Circus, circus and found it many times better and much cheaper. The buffet is overpriced and certainly of no better quality. Waitress service during gambling is almost non-existent. Two hours - two drinks. Lastly the monorail is not open (and won't be until 2004). Given this was the 2003 guide, this should be included in the info. Again the adive should be 'stay in the middle of the strip' you are going to do a lot of walking...
Item 2 was the shows. We went to see Lance Burton, rated as you get 'exactly what you pay for', I disagree. Too many of his tricks are the same and it was not nearly worth the money paid. Better to take in Excalibur's Tournament of Kings - amazing value and more spectacle.
