Summary: Excellent for elementary age children
Comment: As an elementary french teacher I found this book wonderful It is one that my 7 year old constantly requests. It introduces basic vocabulary, but can also be used to introduce more advanced words as time goes by and the child's proficiency increases. The "mystery" makes a child think and maintains his attention, thus increasing the desire to learn the new words. Even without any knowledge of french, a parent could work through this book with a young child, although pronunciation may be a problem. This is a wonderful book that I would highly recommend to anyone wishing to stimulate a child with a new language.

Summary: Exciting way to introduce children to french.
Comment: We are continuing to enjoy Chateau Mystere. It makes learning french fun for both my 4 and 7 year old. The book allows you to start out with simple french words and phrases to solve the mystery and then add more detail in future readings.

I think the book works very well for us because I know some french. I am finding it a very creative tool that the children request over and over.
