Summary: Excellent Book for Practice!
Comment: When I purchased this book, I hoped that it would help me improve my SAT score. It has helped my improve my score, but lacked some of the tricks that I had expected to find in it. This book offers a great amount of practice problems and excellent explanations, but it gives very little information about some of the test taking tips that other books give. So, if you're looking for a book that gives you a lot of practice with verbal problems, this books is excellent. However, if you hope to find tricks of the trade in this book, look somewhere else because this book gives very minimal.

Summary: What an amazing book to study with!
Comment: I am a sophomore who came to the United States two years ago. I was pretty desperate because I only would have three years to prepare for the SATs, which I had no idea what they were.
I got a 310 in verbal and 510 in math, which add up to an 820. I was quite sadened because I was one of the best kids in math in Korea. I told myself that I would easily get above a 700 if I enhance my reading ability. However, I mostly guessed every question in verbal section. I did not even read the passages, I had no idea what the words meant. If there had been 300 words in verbal, I might have known only about 10 to 20 words.
I'd read books for three hours and memorized 20 words a day since then. I've taken a practice SAT test at the beginning of the sophomore year. Amazingly enough, I got a 350 in verbal and 710 in math. I did not guess every problem in verbal. It was my true work!
I've taken the PSAT in October of Sophomore year. I got a 39 in verbal and 71 in math. Now, I was pretty mad at myself. My standard wasn't that low. I was aiming for the Ivy League Colleges. I told myself that I should get about 1550 at the end of the junior year.
For the last three months, I've been reading books at least three hours and memorizing 50 words a day.
You know what I got on a practice SAT test last week?
560 in verbal and 800 in math!!! total 1360.
I've improved almost 500 points in two years.
I'm on a roll to get 1550 in SATs next year~!!

Summary: I have a question....
Comment: Hi, I am a high school student about to start preparing for the SAT. After reading through the reviews of various SAT books, I found that this one was probably one of (if not) the best. I have already taken the ACT; however, I know that I did terrible on it. So, I have decided to switch to the SAT instead. The thing that I was wondering was about how much time would you say it takes to effectively study this book (ALONG WITH an SAT Math section book)? I'm hoping for 1500+ on my ACT, so I was wondering what the approximate time frame is for two of these books. Thank you!
