Summary: I Couldn't Love It Much More
Comment: I'm a practicing teenage wiccan who got her start when given Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf. I have to say that 4 years and many books later Teen Witch has finally fallen to second place on my list of great additions to a witch's library, but only because Solitary Witch has taken first. This BOS is absolutely glorious. It's true that it's not the best resource for actual spells, but it's jam packed with other information. I mean, this book has background on EVERYTHING. It's wonderful for info on circle casting and rituals, astrology, auras, herbs, stones, elements, runes, healing, tarot, and so much more. I highly recommend you buy this. It's true that Silver does "dumb things down" but I have to say that I've been frustrated with other books when they didn't. I have never been frustrated by Silver's books. This is a perfect stepping stone if nothing else. Great for beginners. I think it's safe to say that you won't regret this purchase.

Summary: Not just for teens
Comment: The last segment in this book (part 5) appears geared to teens, though the information can be adapted to be useful for someone of any age. I wonder why Silver didn't take these 100-odd pages, add a bit more information, and make a sequel to TEEN WITCH as opposed to placing them at the end of this Book of Shadows. The Book of Shadows is plenty large as it is. However, being as I'd have bought either I suppose I can consider them a bonus here; I just hope other readers aren't put off by the inclusion of this information and think this is another book geared for kids.

The rest of the book, however, is really an any-age collection for the Solitary Wiccan. Silver tackles questions like: the difficulty/challenges with calling oneself a Christian Witch, to use or not use blades in ritual, and other issues that aren't discussed in the typical Wicca 101 books. Plus, lots of great spells and ideas. With its sheer size, this book is real value for the money. While the encyclopedia-type format with its alphabetical order listings isn't as outright readable as her prior New Generation Witchcraft titles, this is the kind of book you can leave open on your coffee table and read a few headings at a time.

If anything, this reminds me of a much more readable, accessible and friendly version of Raymond Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft.

Summary: Hi, I can turn you into a toad.
Comment: I'm a teen witch and I love ravenwolf fartingtail because she understands EXACTLY how i feel? In fact her wonderful book has this spell that lets me send elves to protect my locker. I'm a wiccan because I know what fairies are, and what dragons are, and even how to do voodoo, yes even though those have nothing to do with wicca at all! Yes and i got all that information from that book. I'm so glad i found this "turn myself into a wiccan book" because now. One time I didn't have a friends phone number, so I did the 'call me' spell and then 2 months later she really DID call me? I must be the most wonderful powerful witch in the universe. And you know what happened today? I told the teacher that no, the periodic table is wrong and that there is are 5 elements, yup thats RIGHT! Don't forget about spirit! My classmate called me a warlock but she was so dumb because .. there are no such things as warlocks nor devils! I have to go soon now because my coven wants to do a spell I found in this book to help us get 100 on our exams! I just love spending money on $ilvers overpriced 'magick' books that dont even teach how to raise and focus emotional energy.

I know that my wicca religion is very ancient and has been passed down thousands of generations orally. 1950 BC!
