Summary: Interesting history told with little interest.
Comment: This era of history is fascinating by it's own right, but the problems of this book arise when the reader is bored to tears by its dry approach. Little human interest is inserted into the telling of the facts. Don't get me wrong, the stories told are interesting, but little presented in the book actually makes you want to read more. Better books have been written about the growth of Railroads. You will learn from this book, but it will take extra effort. 3 out of 5
