Summary: So many stories, so little time...
Comment: Finally, a book about a positive black man handling his business and doing what's right for his family and the people of his community. Yes, his female characters were all evil witches but after reading so many male-bashing novels, we could only expect a brotha to come back and "flip the script." So I had no problem with this. However, I did feel that this novel would've been better off as a book of short stories. Since there were so many characters, each with their own issues, Franklin didn't have enough time to give us a more in-depth look into the lives of the characters. For all I know, he and CeCe were so in love but they were together just two times throughout the book! And I do remember Leandra voicing her thoughts in just one chapter. Another thing, Franklin couldn't decide from what point of view he wanted to tell the story (i.e. he introduced us to CeCe and Kelly's character in third person but towards the middle, they began telling their own story). And this, at times, made it difficult to figure out who was talking or from whose perspective. Two, his timing was off. In one scene, Deric left Kelly standing "in the middle of nowhere..." then it jumps to Khalil's story (two days have passed) and then we go back to Kelly. Had she been standing "in the middle of nowhere" for two days? And this happens more than once throughout the story, which made the sequence of events off track.

Nevertheless, I felt that this was a nice, easy read and since this was his first novel, I'll cut him some slack. I will be reading his "Cup of Love" next.

Summary: The male version of Terry McMillan and with valid reason.
Comment: Franklin White has been dubbed the male version of successful author Terry McMillan and with valid reason. His first novel, "Fed Up With The Fanny", offers a look into the heart and mind of an African American male who is trying to do right by his family and friends. A captivating page turner, "Fed Up With The Fanny" will have readers laughing, crying and recommending it to their friends.

Detroit, Michigan is where the story unfolds. It revolves around Khalil, a successful businessman who is committed to his community as well as his relationship with Cece - his longterm girlfriend. There is Leandra, Khalil's sister, who is hiding a problem and shirking her parental responsibilities. Sonje is his manipulative ex-girlfriend, whom he was seeing while still involved with Cece. Dewayna, a close friend of Khalil's since childhood is facing her own issues fo raising a son without a father.

They are strong, driven characters that hit you with some juicy surprises along the way. It is an easy and enjoyable read. I liked it the most because the characters were very realistic and funny. Whether we hate to admit it or want to tell the whole world...we all have characters like this in our families!

Summary: A Must Read!!!!
Comment: This book was extremely well done.i give major props to Franklin. It was kind of slow at the beginning but as i progressed on i couldn't stop flipping through the pages! It portrays real life occurences in everyway. The thing that really intrigued me about this book however was its ending. it really portrayed what happens in reality whereas some books have that happily ever after ending.
I really admired the main character Khalil. He was the type of man i can see myself being with.He was very well-rounded and had a real passion for what he did.I don't know anyone who hasn't experienced dealing with a person like Kelly. She was way out of line! She ended up reaping what she sowed though.its sad how Sid ended up at the end but that was the reality of it all.
This book is a book everyone should read but preferably young black males because it really can hit home with some.I give it 2 thumbs up!!
