Summary: An Honest and Much Needed Account
Comment: Bravo Mrs Bissex! This ground breaking work is exactly what is needed in education today. An honest account of how one child learned to read and write. Given by the person best qualified to observe and document that learning - his PARENT. With more work of this nature we shall see an end to bogus educational theories imposed on our children. WATCH how your children learn. FOLLOW them. GIVE them what they ASK FOR.
Rating: 2
Summary: few reasons to read
Comment: This book is very disjointed. The reader must understand that this is one mother's research about her son's reading development. It reads like a research article with many vague references to other studies. The good side of the book is that it would be beneficial for teachers to read as it gives insights to high-achieving students and over active parents.
