Comment: For my review I would like to share my Poem, Dedicated to Mrs. Vashti - Journey to The Well: Chapter 10
In The Eyes Of Me:
Looking in the eyes of Me, I could do this, why not? There's nothing to see. I've been in this mirror a thousand times, there's never been anything unusual I'd find. I've stood there, done my hair, brushed my teeth and washed my face, I've been at least a thousand times to this place. Looking at me, what is the big deal, when I'm looking, I'm looking at what is real! Wait, stop what you're doing, look again for the first time. Look pass the nose the mouth, look at the eyes. Stop again, look close, look pass the brows and the eyelashes, look at your soul, look at the truth, look at the real YOU! Don't be afraid, keep your eyes open, no ones there but you and God, listen to what is spoken. Continue to look, go deeper & deeper, if you feel like you may lose yourself, rememeber He's a keeper. If your legs get weak and you feel like you can't stand, don't worry he'll carry you like the footprints in the sand. Now speak what you see. What is in the eyes of me? Holy Spirit help me, this is too hard! Oh Lord Jesus I know you are here. I'm so ashamed, I see hurt, pain & fear! Is this me! Is this who I am! This is the truth that I see inside of me? How could this be, this does not reflect you Lord, your perfect love cast out fear! But it's there, I see it, I confess it, I know it - I forgot about it, now I remember it. "I'm Awake Now"! no more pretending,no letting it reside comfortably anymore. It has to go. There is power, strength and courage beyond what I can see, it's also in the eyes of me. I'll look and keep looking; affirming God's love and the promises he's made. I'll look and keep looking until hurt, pain and fear all fade. I'll look and keep looking until I see what Jesus sees when he looks inside the eyes of me.

Summary: There's more than water at the Well
Comment: Journey to the Well takes an otherwise short scripture and explores the role of Jesus in the lives of everyday women. McKenzie delves into our lives and roles as women and shows how we can experience a closer relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her style of writing is engaging and inviting and kept me savoring with anticipation of each new chapter. A must read for all women, especially those needing affirmation of the importance of their relationship with the Most High.

Comment: Bishop McKenzie reveals to her audience exactly why she is the first female Bishop in the AME church, this book is dynamic! Through using relevant metaphors of everyday life Bishop McKenzie retells the Samaritain woman's encounter with Jesus at the well. The activites that are included with each chapter help promote spiritual growth and understanding. This is a journey truly worth taking!
