Summary: Egypt lovers, eat your heart out!
Comment: This book showes different sides of Cleopatra, a egotistical side, a sly side, and an afraid side. This book is all about her trying to deal with different people, and Rome. She is confused about religion, her father, and Rome. If you haven't guessed yet, she spends much of the book in Rome. Her father is Ptolemy Auletes, pharoh of Egypt and a coward at that. She has always seen him as a great leader, but now the image crumbles to dust. She is the one who must defend him with her many languaes and people skills, neither of which her Father possesses. She slowly realizes that Rome is not a place to trust. Her few friends are kind, though. I only rate this book at a five star because anyone who loves the ways of the Egyptians would love this book. Otherwize, the grusome descriptions in it would lower it sufficiantly. And please, if you think that just cause a Kid is reviewing a Kids book, my thoughts don't count, I do hope you would reconsider. I have read the book many times and know what I'm talking about.
Happy (or in this case discusting) reading!

Summary: THIS IS A GOOD READ, DESPITE WHAT
Comment: Some people may say. I found this book to be very good. Sure, it might not be historically accurate in all areas, but bear in mind that Cleopatra lived more than 2000 years ago. Too much fact in a book meant for young readers would probably bore a person to sleep. I did however, give this book 4 stars intead of 5 because of some missing facts, such as the mention of paper before its time, AND Cleopatra's hanging around a Jewish guy. Correct me if I am wrong, but the Egyptians and Jews did not exactly like each other. Egyptians were also polythestic (worshiped many gods) and Cleopatra would most likely share their beliefs.
Otherwise, the book is very well written, the characters on the mark, the Romans just as gross as they should be. The book was a good read to me, as it answered a few questions I had about Cleopatra, as I had never seriously read anything about her. I was quite surprised at the behavior of her sisters, and it seemed to me that Cleopatra did not care much for them herself. Cleopatra's journey to Rome was a good part of the book, where Cleopatra learns about the Romans and meets Marc Antony.
A good, recommended read if you have some background knowledge on the subject at first, otherwise you might be lost. Candace

Summary: I wish I could have more stars to fill in..........
Comment: Three cheers to one of the best books I ever read! This book brought be into the streets of Rome, Italy, and Egypt, as if I were an invisible character that was pulled into the pages of the book when I started to read.
The book was so good, when it came for book reports, even though it was slightly fictional, my teacher thought that the book was so good herself, that she let me use it for a biography!
