Summary: Not enough,
Comment: I read SeinLanguage a few years after the show was over. I was a big fan of Seinfeld and I often watch the reruns. My following of Seinfeld eventually led me to tapes of his standup act.
After watching the show and listening to his standup act, reading SeinLanguage was a bit redundant. The reader will not find very much new material in this book. Most of the jokes come from his standup act, which inspired scenarios in the TV show.
The jokes are funny and I always laugh, but I picked up this book hoping for an insight into Jerry Seinfeld's life. All I found was a series of jokes about different topics, most of which I had already heard.
I think you can probably pass this one up.
Rating: 5
Summary: Laugh-out-loud
Comment: There's is something truly unique about this book. I think it's the fact that it has the capability to make you laugh out loud. Speaking as someone who adores comedy in all forms (Seinfeld being one of these forms) this book is really pretty incredible.
At first glance, I admit, it doesn't look like much. You figure that it's going to be full of jokes you've heard hundreds of times on the TV shows. Although this is partially true (some of the jokes ARE from the TV series), there's is much more to this book than meets the eye.
First of all, it is truly laugh-out-loud funny. I received this book as a gift for Christmas and I read the whole thing that same morning. I sat in an easy chair in my living room and read and read and read. Not only that, I laughed and laughed and laughed. Which is something I never do when reading. Watching films, yes. Talking with friends, yes. But reading? Who laughs when their reading? Me, apparently.
I'm actually a little afraid to take this book out in public with me because I'm afraid I'll start giggling uncontrollably and people will think I'm off my rocker. So BEWARE. Read this book in the safety of your own home. Because trust me, you won't be able to keep from laughing.
Rating: 3
Summary: Easy reading, but probably for fans only
Comment: I received this book in hard cover format as a gift, being a fan of the show and stand up performances, and enjoyed it tremendously. That having been said, it is a not much more than a light reading experience, and at under 200 pages (mostly lightly filled) is little more than a mirror of his most well known material. Fans like myself will not be disappointed, but this is not an insightful expose of what makes Jerry tick, and moreover is really just selling ice to eskimos. Good fun, but don't expect too much
