Summary: Great review on molecular biology
Comment: Well, if you do not have time to sit down and read a whole textbook or set of textbooks on the subject, Hawkins Gene Structure and Expression is for you. He not only gives you an overview of the basic topics inluding DNA/RNA structure, replication and transcription but also gives you enough statistics and experimental details to fill a void on the practical side of molecular biology. Lots of overview on gene strcture and function. Although you will not find extensive biochemistry, you do get enough to set you out researching for more. The details you do get, however, will surprise you - both prokaryotic and eukaryotic aspects. There is enough here to bring you up to speed with the theories and methods of molecular biology, and then some. I always read it to refresh my knowledge base - when I think I have forgotten something. Part textbook, part journal article, part research report - I would recommend it highly.
