Summary: Endearing and heartwarming
Comment: I found Tending Roses to be an endearing read that I will not soon forget. I agree with the other reviewer who said it was a book you want to share with everyone you love. As I read the pages, I found myself thinking about the people who have made a difference in my life over the years. Grandma Rose reminded me of my own grandmother, and the book brought back wonderful memories of time spent on her farm with her. If you are a mother, a grandmother, a daughter, or a granddaughter, you will find so much to relate to in this book. Truly heartwarming. Unforgettable. I'd give it ten stars if I could.

Summary: Messages for today's society
Comment: "Tending Roses" was a book picked for an online book club I am in. It is not a book that I would have ever picked up on my own, so I am extremely glad that I am a part of this book club.
Kate Bowman and her husband Ben and infant son Joshua have temporarily moved from Chicago to Hindsville, MO to prepare Kate's grandmother, Rose Vongortler, for an impending move to a nursing home. Grandma Rose has recently had a stroke and though she has physically recovered, her mental abilities come and go. Her daughter, Jeane and son Jack (Kate's father) decided a nursing home was best when Grandma Rose left the iron on and nearly burned down her house. While Kate is there, Grandma Rose has a few other household accidents.
The focus of this book is how Kate comes to realize that though Grandma Rose is unable to care for herself, she still has much wisdom to impart - which she does by means of a journal that she places strategically for Kate to read.
This book has many messages about us and our society - simplifying life, caring for the elderly and so on. It is a wonderful read and will certainly make you think!

Summary: Tending Roses
Comment: Linsa Wingate sends out a heartwarming message to all of us in this book about an elderly woman, Grandma Rose, who tries to pass on some of the wisdom she has gained in her long life to her grandaughter Katie. These characters were so realistic and Grandma Rose is an absolute riot! I found myself at several moments during my reading and even after I had finished the book, stopping and reflecting about my own life and what is truly important. I look forward to reading Mrs. Wingate's other books and I would highly recommend this one!
