Summary: Finally, there is hope
Comment: I have been in talk therapy for many years (with different therapists) and I've always wondered why I didn't feel 'normal'. Recently I was diagnosed with OCD and shortly thereafter I read this book. I liked it very much.

In a compassionate, reassuring tone the author explains OCD and its treatments (medication and behavioral therapy). He includes case studies and examples of probable historical OCD suffers. He also summarizes the research that shows OCD is a brain disorder and states that insight-oriented therapy does not work (I could have said that!). The list of resources is extensive.

Rating: 5
Summary: Outstanding book for understanding and managing OCD
Comment: I am a licensed psychologist and a patient with obsessive compulsive symptoms. For over five years I have voraciously consumed the available literature to get help for myself and my clients. This book is a must have. Nothing I have read has been better.

Dr. Osborn's magic is in letting himself shine through as a fellow sufferer who is a deeply compassionate practitioner. His case studies show many of the subtle faces of OCD and give us insight into the suffering this disorder can bring.

A real highlight of the book is when he lets his group therapy patients speak to us through their ten strategies for coping with OCD.

This is a six star book.

Summary: No real solutions
Comment: This book focuses on symptoms and not solutions. If you want real solutions, buy Jonathan Grayson's book called "Freedom from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder." That is the best book on OCD I have ever read.
