Summary: Pretty good but a little old fashioned and slow
Comment: I am an Elementary education major and had to view the video and compare it to the book for a lesson plan. I thought it accurately depicted a lot of things but was incorrect in a lot of other ways. It did bring the characters to life but left out some key scenes. Rontu in the movie was not one of the wild dogs from the island but was left by the Aleuts whereas in the book he was described as one of the wild dogs. Other than that I found it a bit slow and old fashioned. Overall I thought it was good and would use it with a class to view critically and to compare to the book.

Summary: My review of Island of the Blue Dolphins
Comment: The book Island of The Blue Dolphins was an extrodinary book written by the great american author Scott O'Dell. When I read it I couldn't put it down. The book was about a 12 year old American Indian girl named Karana. She and her tribe are on their way to start a new life when she notices that her brother was left behind on the island. She jumps off the boat to get her brother and they are both left behind.About 5 weeks later her brother is killed by a pack of wild dogs. The leader of the pack was named Rontu. When Karana finds Rontu wounded she takes the dog under her care.Soon they become the best of friends.Rontu's son was named Rontu-Aru and soon was friends with Karana.Karana lived on this island being only 12 and kept herself alive by foraging for food on land and in the ocean. She built shelter and made weapons for her protection.Karana lived on this island for many years. The white men never came back to help her. Then soon after Father Gonzales came and she went on a voyage with him.

Summary: Island Of the Blue Dolphins
Comment: This book was about a young girl that lived on a island in a village with her family. The island was in the middle of the ocean where there were many animals and lots of water all around the small island. Then one day a ship came to hut some otter to trade for some goods. The people of the island agreed but when the Alutes were done hunting they didn't give the small Indian village ther fair share. Thats when there was a battel between the two. The Indian lost many people and decided to move to a different place. So later that month a ship came tp pick them up but s tey left they forgot a ypung girl named Karana. She was left on the island for many years. Read this book and find out her adventures.
This book shows her strong will and if you have strenght you can do anything. It shows not to depend on anyoneles and to try not to give up. I liked this book because it was very exciting and it kept you in climax all most the whole time. When I started i couldn't stop. Its a very good story and shows that you can do anything if you try.
