Summary: Distance sampling
Comment: This book is a very good start for begainer readers into the field of wildlife population assessment. Though it proceeds further into advanced topics regarding both theory and practice. The book provides step-wise introduction into the theory behind a well established method for population assessment that is widely used among ecologists. Examples and applications are provided. The figures are well chosen and illustrated. Although being simple in context some basic knowledge of statiscs is an assesst while reading this book. The book is edited in a way to provide a sort of comprehensive manual of a DISTANCE software package used for estimating wildlife population from sighting surveys.
