Summary: the birth of liberal religion and CWG
Comment: I am a Unitarian/Universalist member, and yesterday I was reading some interesting accounts on the life of the church's founder...Michael Servetus. He lived 500 years ago in Europe, at a time when Martin Luther and the Reformation was taking shape in Europe. It was also a dangerous time when any opposition to the Catholic church could result in death at the hands of the Inquisition. Servetus had revolutionary ideas which flew in the face of religious dogma of the day, and published these controversial views for all to see. Needless to say, he immediately became a serious threat to the Catholic church. He was captured, but managed to escape from prison, and lived a number of years longer under an assumed name. Eventually, however, he was found out, arrested, tried, and convicted of heresy in Geneva. He was burned at the stake, and died a martyr for his beliefs.
Isn't it wonderful that we can read a book like Conversations with God, and not have to fear for our lives today? But, in another sense, isn't it frightening how little we have changed from those days when any voice of opposition had to be silenced, sometimes in the most brutal of ways?

Summary: Catholics won't like this... Because they're not allowed to.
Comment: When the student is ready the teacher will come. Is it Walsch? No. It's God. (It always was). Did Walsch "hear" God? Who Cares.

Many will have to lighten up to understand what this book is really trying to say. It's a must read for those asking questions that religion hasn't answered for them. Even traditional religions should softly "hmmmm" when encountering many ideas delivered by Walsch's conversations. If truth be known, many fellow congreationalists secretely yearn for the answers to the questions posed in CWG.

I personally liked the books on tape series. Ed Asner delivers his part of the "spoken word" with a rich and power presence. Walsch delivers concepts that are eye opening and skin tingling. This is not a difficult read but some concepts are hard to swallow - like Hitler went to Heaven. Personally the idea of a non-existant Devil fit my philosophy pretty well. And the Tom/Mary in CWG2 was red hot. I can't wait for book 3!

Summary: An Invitation
Comment: CWG 1 is a book that has helped millions to consciously begin or stay on their path to reconnect with the Divine that they are. The three main religions in their own ways deny that. These belief's are the causes of every human trauma. They in their beliefs tell us that God is separate from us. We are not worthy to Know God until and unless we follow and adhere to their dogmas. Such religions will grow in these times of more fear.
Fear is spawned from not Knowing, of feeling separate and not connected with the shared experience of being human. Our potentials as a collective experience is not understood,
This book looks at why we do that and what are the results. It explores the psychology of that from a spiritual perspective. For many it is an affirmation of hidden beliefs.
Everyone can relate to this first book in some way. Neales later books have in many cases distracted many from his original Intent. This being that everyone, if they Listen, can and will have a conversation with God.
