Summary: Acid Flashback!
Comment: Boy, I probably read the book back in the late sixties or early seventies, in New York (as the other reviewer did), and remember wishing the washing machine would magically spill over and fill the house with soap bubbles that I could float through. I'm amazed I remember the book in such detail, and wish I had sixty bucks to buy it again. Please count my vote in the "reprint this!" tally!

Summary: My absolute favorite book in elementary school
Comment: I can't believe I actually found it. I read this book some where between 1970 and 1971, while a student in the New York City public school system. I did a book report complete with pictures that I colored myself. I am now in my mid forties. I have been searching for this book for quite some time, but I thought the girls' name was Hillary, instead of Hildy, thus I could not find it. I only give books as gifts to children, so I too, am sad to see that it is out of print. This book will stimulate the minds of young people without frightening them. Harry potter move over, this is the original!

Summary: It is truly a shame that this wonderful book is out of print
Comment: Who of us has not wondered what it would be like to have our wishes granted? With the help of a magical cuckoo clock, Hildy learns to deal with a new school and classmates. There is also a slight element of spookiness with the possibility of her new house being haunted by the mischevious ghost of a little boy. The chapter about all the drinking fountains at the school running different kinds of pop is hilarious! This was one of my favorite books growing up.
