Summary: Great practice techniques developed for the Inner Game.
Comment: Tim Gallwey's first book, "The Inner Game of Tennis" was a collection of interesting stories, that backed up how he learned to explore our "inner game", and make us trust ourselves. Because the author was a tennis player, and teacher, the theme of the book was tennis. It was still more of a book on the inner game philosophy, than a focused book on tennis. With the knowledge from the earlier book, you could craft yourself some pretty good techniques to learn the inner game, in tennis, or any other sport.

If some of us have trouble buying into the philosophy, then maybe creating the techniques ourselves would be difficult. This book solves that problem. While it's still all about "Inner Tennis", this book contains more of the techniques, and psychological exercises, that fool us into playing our best. Tim has developed a number of them, in his time spent as a tennis instructor. They are far from conventional tennis teaching methods, but they work much faster, and the techniques do not fade like conventional ones. Whenever I felt myself trying too hard, or starting to tense up in a match, I'd always revert to something simple like the "bounce, hit drill", and I was back in the groove! While this book is out of print, it seems to have a number of copies available at bargain prices in the used market. If you want to learn the game fast, grab the book and go.

Summary: All That I Needed
Comment: I just wanted to share the incredible feeling that just a little patience managed to get me after reading this book. Mr. Gallwey has managed to put into words how one feels and thinks when involved in sport (any sport not just tennis). I first read this book 18 years ago, and my snooker game (billiards) improved immensely. For anyone wanting to master their sport, and find out what "being in the zone" is all about, this is a MUST read!
