Summary: A book with only one flaw
Comment: This book contains a series of important and accessible essays in ethics. It is notable in particular for McDowell's most systematic presentation of his views (in "Two Sorts of Naturalism"), and for Warren Quinn's remarkable essay on desire. Its only flaw is that it has no reply by Foot, nor does it present any of her recent unpublished work. We'll have to wait for her forthcoming book. Until then, it's a fitting tribute. [Addendum: Foot's book, "Natural Goodness", is now in print.]
