Summary: Good concept- bad book.
Comment: I chose to buy this book because I liked the concept of having a book which was supposed to be "essential" for the real Webmaster world. However, I find (I'm still struggling through) myself wasting time on trying to figure out all the coding mistakes. The mistakes start in chapter 1. The zip files which you download off the net (which contain the code for the projects mentioned throughout the book) are also done in a poor manner, the book does not refer you to a certain file. Another example is that you have to figure out where to move the images files in order to have them sourced correctly to the images. I would not recommend this book until a new corrected, updated edition with CD will be available.

Comment: I thought this book was great. It gives a quick enough overview to keep the attention of a student or professional. This book is not going to be a reference manual, but it is good enough to teach you the basics so you can get a feel for the language, what it does, and put it on your resume.

Comment: I see that there are readers of this book that are a little upset that they were unable to use this book as a learning tool, but as a reference, this book can't be beat.

As the title states, it is for Web Professionals. If you are just learning, I reccomend that you start small and work up to this book, you won't be sorry.
