Comment: I first received this book with its accompanying 3 CD set in a class context. I found it to be quite insightful and worthwhile reading. The book along with the 3 CD set takes you through the history of music as well as types ranging from many wonderful classical epics to music form the 20's and other nations as well as genera. With the book I gained a higher apperception of music as well as a better understanding. This book is a wonderful book for anyone who would like to teach form it as well as learn from it. The music is broken up in to sections so as you read along about the pieces you can go back and listen to them and gain a better understanding about as to what the book is trying to convey. The accompanying CDs also have a great selection of music that would wonderfully accompany anyone's growing collection. I highly recommend this book along with its CD set for anyone who would like to gain a better understand as well as an appreciation for music.
