Summary: Great for the novice
Comment: This book is a great start for a novice in IT. If you are already in an IT organization and have a pretty good sense of the activities going on around you in the department, this book will be of little added value. But for the newcomer, the book is a great way to get started. Shipper was prompt in delivering the product and was accurate with his description.

Summary: For Management???
Comment: Well, I've got to go through this bunch of pages once more in the next two weeks and believe me: Even boys and girls doing an mba should know more about IT than what is featured in this text. The third star is just for the reduced weight, compared to the previous edition. So, people, look around for something that covers ISO/OSI, TCP/IP in a better way..Yours sincerely..

Summary: It's a Management Book, Stupid!
Comment: The purpose of this text is to provide graduate business students, primarily MBA students with a broad-based text for the study of Information Technology in Organizations. The book logically, and comprehensively addresses how information technology is pervasively altering today's business organization and its environment.
Technoids BEWARE! Readers should not be deceived that this text intends nor purports to provide intricate programming specifics of XML, TCP/IP, JAVA, etc. THE BOOK IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A "HOW TO" BOOK, OR TEACH YOU EVERYTHING ABOUT EVERY ESOTERIC ASPECT OF IT PROTOCOLS! It is not titled "Information Technology for Dweebs".
It does a terrific job of addressing the ROLE OF MANAGERS in the information age, organizational issues of IT, the impact of IT on business value chains, BPR, the process and implications of system analysis and design alternatives, introductions to AI and KM, technology enabled group collaboration, Outsourcing decisions, and ROI of IT investments.
This is the 7th Edition because it is a great text for MANAGERS!
