Summary: Review of How to do Everything with Access 2002
Comment: A waste of time and money with regards to what I purchased the book for. I was expecting to increase my knowledge based upon the representation of the back cover of the book. In the first or second chapter she leads you down a path thinking that you will be working with a specific database (Northwind) but never follows through. At the very best, I would use this book only as a reference and not a training manual as long as you don't get lost in attempting to follow her thought process. But maybe that's why this book is so cheap when compared to others. There are much superior training books than this one for users first becoming familiar with Access.

Rating: 5
Summary: Excellent, easy to read!
Comment: I usually use books by Alison Balter's (Access series); but my coworkers asked me to get an easier book for them, so I got "How to do everything with Access 2002" by Virginia Andersen. This is an excellent book, either as a tutorial or as a reference. I was delighted by how easy the explanations are. The book goes directly to the topic without using to much of your time. I particularly liked the chapters on "security" and "sharing with multiple users". The book is full of large size screen shoots and illustrations that are a delight to read. I decided to keep a copy for my own use.

Rating: 5
Summary: excellent quick-start
Comment: This book is an excellent quick-start handbook for folks new to Access but with some background in databases. It will get you through all of the GUI, which is helpful if thats your weak point.

Obviously I disagree with the one-star reviewer. There are plenty of examples throughout this book and they are available either by downloading from the MS Access website, or off the MS Office distribution CD.
