Summary: One of the classics
Comment: Okay, obviously some of the people writing reviews here are not the kind of people it was written for. ("why would I need a card to tell me when to change the kitty litter?) We all know that lots of people in the world cannot even imagine that some people struggle with the simple routines of life. They think that people with messy houses just don't care. Really, even those of us who struggle sometimes can't understand why we can't manage those things that seem so simple for other people. Well, if you are the kind of person who can't understand why someone would need a reminder to make up the bed, do laundry, etc. -- you just won't get this book. If you are the kind of person who hates living in chaos but can't figure out how to get out of it, you just might love this book. Also, I highly recommend Sink Reflections and The Messies Manual.

Summary: Best Organizing Book I have ever read
Comment: I read this book about a month ago and the difference in my house is amazing! Also, I am so much less stressed and seem to have MORE time. I have read dozens of these books in the past, but this one did it for me. Highly recommend. I'm buying it for a friend of mine.

Summary: A rather annoying book
Comment: I have a small collection of various organizing books, partly because I have a tendency to let things get very messy periodically, and partly because I find it rather satisfying to straighten out the mess (it can be quite a creative exercise). Of all of these, this little book is probably my least favorite. It's hard to point out one reason, but some of the features of the book that I found less than appealing include the long chapters that ramble on and on about their personal stories, the rather hyperbolic, even evangelistic tone, and that peculiar whiff if you will of 'mommie with a house full of smelly children (diapers or sneakers, depending on age)' thing.
Perhaps this aspect of it doesn't appeal because I don't have kids yet; yet, I do like other organizing books that are written from a homemaker's point of view such as the ones by Deniece Schofield or FLYlady Marla Cilley.
Anyway, if you like books with lots of tearful personal anecdotes, this book will appeal to you. If not, and if you want to try their general method, try the excellent FLYlady web site first (and her book, Sink Reflections, if you like.) If you want a book with lots of hints about how to organize your kitchen, plan menus, deal with the kids' gear, and such, Deniece Schofield's Confessions of An Organized Homemaker is it. If you want a book that goes beyond keeping the house picked up and the hubby and kids running smoothly however, try a more general organizing principle book such as Julie Morgenstern's Organizing From the Inside Out. Happy organizing.
