Summary: It worked for me.
Comment: Dr. Atkins is the best, but one should also read Protein Power, The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet, Sugar Busters, etc. I've been "low-carbing" since September 28, 1996, starting with Atkins's very low carbohydrate regimen and increasing my carb intake as I increased my exercise. I dropped 30 lbs. and four inches from my waistline the first six months and have easily stayed at 200 lbs since then. Also, my migraines have stopped, blood pressure went from 140/90 to 120/70, chronic tendonitis went away, as did my irritable bowel syndrome symptoms. I eat mainly meat, fish, low-carb dairy, eggs, nuts, and cruciferous veggies. I make desserts (ice cream, pudding, cake) with ingredients like cream, whey powder, non-sugar sweeteners like stevia, unsweetened chocolate, flax flour, etc. The low-carbohydrate lifestyle will work for some and not for others. It's worth a try for all who are unhappy with their present weight and/or lack of good health. Atkins is the best place to start.

Summary: Almost a religious experience - it has changed my life
Comment: I started the diet two months ago and have lost 30 pounds. The diet takes no willpower and I lost an average of slightly over three pounds a week. I feel great! My wife, family and friends can't believe I'm losing so much weight. I will stay on the diet in some form for the rest of my life. I had been gaining weight steadily since college and diets just did not work. I wish I had known about the diet years ago but I believed that only a low calorie diet could work. After the reading the book and beginning the diet it was as if a great secret was revealed to me. Although you should read the book, the diet boils down to two rules. Eat as much protein and fat as you need not to be hungry. As for carbohydrates, start very close to zero and adjust the amount based on the weight loss you experience. If you're not losing, cut the carbs. if you're losing too fast, add a few carbs. Thank you Dr. Atkins for changing my life.

Summary: A diet that is healthy and fun to do
Comment: Five weeks ago i got the diagnosis diabetes 2 at the age of 28. I needed to change my eating habits, and decided that the Atkins diet is the the only approach I would be able to live with.

Four weeks ago I started. My fasting bloodsugarlevel was 7.8. In two weeks it had dropped to 5.2 and now I have lost 22 pounds. I feel better than I have done in years. I have lots of energy and my need to sleep has decreased radically.

My health has improved all because of this book, and I heartily reccomend it to anyone who is overweight.

One reviewer claims that dr. Atkins died from heart disease. This is a false claim. He died because he fell and hit his head.

There are some who claim this diet isn't healthy. I don't really care about such nonsense. I _feel_ great, as opposed to what I felt like when I ate a lot of carbohydrates, and my doctor tells my I am healthier than ever. Because of the Atkins nutritional approach I may never have to use medication for my diabetes.

Why not give the diet a try? Get the book and try the two week induction. If it doesn't make you feel better then just quit. If you are like millions of others who have decided to live with this nutritional approach, you will feel better and loose weight while eating satisfying and tasty food.
