Summary: 4 year old daughter loves this book year round!
Comment: We first checked this book out at the library. My 4 yr old daughter just absolutely loved this book..so much that we have purchased it for her book collection. It is not too scary for my daughter, but like the other reviews you really have to know the personality of your child. My daughter loved dinosaurs at age 2 and now is a big Scooby doo fan with all the ghosts and goblins in those cartoons so this book really fits her personality.

Summary: Scarier for Adults Than Kids
Comment: I bought this book from a catalog thinking it's just the seasonal book I was looking for to read to my 2 and 5 year old children. My 5 year old likes to read it aloud to me complete with spooky inflections on (or as he reads it) "Boo-Boo-Booooooogity Ghost". My two year old likes to repeat that phrase as she is increasing her verbal skills. However, I think the book is scary. I have to agree with the reviewer who pointed out the bit about the crew coming to your street at the end. That *is* frightening - to me as an adult and parent with an attendent set of fears about raising my children well and keeping them safe. My children, though, don't have a problem with the idea of a bunch of supernatural creatures tracking them to their home - or stalking them for that matter.

Summary: Appalling for young children!
Comment: I have never read a more inappropriate book for ages 4-8. I am a teacher who cannot imagine the reaction of my elementary class if this were read to them. It is bad enough to include characters like the mad evil doctor, mummy, werewolf, vampire and witch but the author finishes the book by threatening the children with "we'll find your house (we know the street)". Our children do not need adult-like fears! I strongly encourage you to pass up this book and never look back!!
